Opening Reception for Meet Minneapolis
Meeting Professionals International WEC 2014

The Closing Reception was the one last chance to impress upon the attendees that Minneapolis is the place for their next meeting or convention.

MY INVOLVEMENT

  • Imagined the vision and created the event brief for the production company to execute.

  • Added the experiences that the attendees did not experience the first night, things like tastings of Minnesota craft beers, characature drawings, and a true party in a city park.

  • Attempted to debunk the Minnesota stereotypes; created proof points so that the production company had guidelines to follow. For example, we showcased urban sophistication, not flannel; Minnie & Paul, not Paul Bunyan.

One of my favorite accomplishments is launching the inaugural year of Little Farm Hands at the Minnesota State Fair.

MY INVOLVEMENT

  • Organized and operated new hands-on, educational children’s exhibit with a budget of $100,000 that welcomed more than 160,000 visitors in 12 days

  • Promoted hands-on, educational exhibit through on-air interviews and appeared on all Twin Cities television news programs in a twelve-day period

  • Hired staff to operate the event; a team that went on to be recognized by the Minnesota State Fair for their outstanding customer service
